The Novotrans Group of Companies has already done a great progress in the project of the multipurpose trade terminal Ust-Luga – from a deserted coast to a huge port facility on the Baltic Sea.

Railway communication with the LUGAPORT multipurpose terminal in the port of Ust-Luga has been launched.

Key project activities in 2021

November 2021

The Novotrans Group of Companies and Bedeschi SpA (Italy) signed an agreement on the supply of equipment for the LUGAPORT terminal. According to the document, Novotrans Holding will purchase from Italian partners specialized systems for transshipment of bulk cargo, including coal, iron ore and other products.

November 2021

Novotrans Holding and Otkritie Bank signed loan agreements to finance the LUGAPORT project.

November 2021

Novotrans Holding and Russian Railways signed an agreement on the construction of non-public tracks at the LUGAPORT terminal.

October 2021

At the LUGAPORT terminal Novotrans continues to construct berths, makes territory planning for the creation of transshipment complexes, and takes measures to provide the terminal with related infrastructure, namely car entrances with an overpass over non-public railway tracks, engineering flood protection systems. In order to prove the water supply of the terminal, the Holding is also constructing a water conduit from the Unified system of utility and drinking water supply of the seaport of Ust-Luga.

September 2021

As part of the implementation of the investment project for the LUGAPORT construction, Novotrans Holding has begun purchasing equipment for the storage and transshipment of grain cargo. In accordance with contracts concluded with a number of leading Russian manufacturers, the grain handling complex of the LUGAPORT multipurpose terminal will be equipped with high-tech silo-type granaries, conveyors and cutting-edge ship-loaders.

September 2021

Novotrans Holding together with the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosmorport started dredging works in the water area of the LUGAPORT terminal.

August 2021

Novotrans Holding sponsored the release of 77,000 Atlantic salmon into water bodies of Leningrad Region. The project contributes to the local sustainable growth and replenishment of aquatic biological resources.

August 2021

Novotrans Holding has started purchasing heavy lifting equipment. The SMM Company (St. Petersburg) will supply the terminal with two gantry cranes of the Vityaz series, designed for operation in hook, grab, magnetic and spreader modes. They will be used for transshipment of bulk and general cargoes at the terminal in wagon-ship-wagon and wagon-warehouse-ship modes.

June 2021

The Novotrans Group of Companies and the government of the Orel Region signed an agreement on cooperation in the export transshipment of local agricultural and industrial cargoes at the LUGAPORT terminal.

April 2021

The Novotrans Group of Companies has carried out a major environmental project in Leningrad Region: with the financial support of the Group, about 19,000 juvenile Atlantic salmon (salmon) were released into the Neva River. Thus, Novotrans Holding contributes to the sustainable development of the Region and recovery of its biological resources.

The Novotrans Group of Companies, the Ministry of Economic Development of Russia and the government of the Leningrad Region signed an agreement on the protection and promotion of investments in order to implement the LUGAPORT project.

November 2020

Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin launched the construction of facilities for the Ust-Luga multipurpose trading terminal in the Baltic port of Ust-Luga (Leningrad Region).

September 2020

The Novotrans Group of Companies and the Federal State Unitary Enterprise Rosmorport signed an agreement on cooperation for the implementation of the LUGAPORT project. As part of the agreement, Rosmorport will create objects of federal property: it will form the water area, and also install navigational equipment.

September 2020

The project for the LUGAPORT construction received a state appraisal from the Glavgosexpertiza of Russia.

Novotrans has completed the creation of artificial land plots. Under the construction process, 843 shell piles were sunk into the ground of the artificial land plots, 2642 Larsen sheet piles were driven. More than 2 million cubic meters of sand and 27 thousand cubic meters of crushed stone were delivered and dumped. Approximately 1,000 reinforced concrete slabs were laid to pave the driveways on the embankment dams. The area of artificially created territory of the terminal exceeds 47 hectares.

May 2020

The Novotrans Group and its partners continue to create artificial land plots of stage 6. During the final stage of filling in the maps of land reclamation, 75 cubic meters of sand were dumped. The maps have been fully completed. At the moment, we are working on fixing the surface with crushed stone. On map 1, about 70% of the territory has been fortified, on map 3 – 100%. Laying of all 463 PAG-18 slabs has been completed. Works on fixing and protection of embankment dams have been completed by 85%.

April 2020

Sheet piling and sand filling of the maps of land reclamation above the water mark have been completed.

March 2020

Sheet piling is 99% completed; work on the formation of slope coast protection is fully completed. At the final stage, there are works on filling the maps of land reclamation with sand.

February 2020

At the moment, the responsible organizations are constructing embankment dams and filling the two remaining maps of land reclamation with sand. According to map 1, about 70% of the territory is filled with sand, and according to map 3, approximately 85%. Sheet piling works are at the final stage (2463 of the planned 2591 piles, i.e. about 95%).

January 2020

Novotrans continued to work on creating artificial land plots and driving sheet piling. 4 out of 6 maps of artificial land plots were filled to the design mark. The sheet piling installation is 64.15% complete. In total, the implementation of works on the construction of the facility is 60%.

Key project activities in 2019

December 2019

Sheet piling is completed by 42.7%, slope protection of the northern part of the coast is almost finished. In total, 55% of the project on the facility construction has been carried out.

November 2019

The last of 845 piles-shells of vertical coast protection of the artificial land plot was set up. Sheet piling is 30% completed, the bank protection of the northern part is finished by 70%. In total, the implementation of works on the construction of the facility has been completed by 50%.

October 2019

Novotrans is actively working on the creation of artificial land plots and the construction of vertical coast protection. 16 units of the fleet (offshore platforms, floating crane, tugboats, and barges) are involved in the construction of vertical coast protection. More than half of the piles (439 out of 845) have been set up, the Larsen sheet piling is actively sinking; backfilling of the dam along the sheet pile is under way. The facility has been completed by 25%.

September 2019

The creation of artificial land plots as well as the construction of vertical coast protection is under way. The facility has been completed by 10%.

August 2019

Novotrans Holding, JSC Ust-Luga Company and Morstroy Construction Department have started the construction of the LUGAPORT terminal in the seaport of Ust-Luga with the vertical coast protection.

The first stage of the supply of metal structures within the framework of the LUGAPORT investment project has been completed. A batch of 3.6 thousand tons of Larsen sheet pile manufactured by EVRAZ NTMK and 12 thousand tons of pipes manufactured by the Kolpino Pipe Plant were delivered to the portside storage area of the general contractor for the Ust-Luga construction.

The Government of Russia issued Decree No. 1184-r on the inclusion of the terminal in the Territorial Planning Scheme in the field of federal transport (railway, air, sea, inland water transport) and federal highways.
